Dreamkillers--To Be Released in March 2008

Product #:  killers
Description:

Based on a true story, Dream Killers: Abuse of Regulatory Eminent Domain weaves a gripping Camelot love story with the horror of hatred, lies, greed and government planning out of control. With the 2005 Kelo vs. City of New London Supreme Court decision, it will soon be the story of millions of Americans.

When Mary Alice Davis saw Howard Davis for the first time in Phoenix, Arizona, she knew there was something different about him – very different. He had magnetism that drew her to him as no man had ever done before. Howard and Mary Alice soon realized that the attraction was mutual, and that they loved each other deeply. They married and moved into a new mansion Howard was just completing in the beautiful New England town of Pleasant Harbor. Heir to the Shaws Supermarket fortune in New England, Howard was a multimillionaire and they began to live their Camelot love story. “They lived happily ever after” should have been the end of the story. But it was not to be. Howard died; and before she even buried her beloved husband, Mary Alice entered a twilight zone of hatred, lies and greed; first with Howard’s family, and then with the Maine Town of Pleasant Harbor. Much of the $350 million sale of Shaws went into family foundations, which the family used to manipulate government and community decisions. The promise of big money motivated powerful officials and predators in Pleasant Harbor to use an array of ostensibly legal planning regulations to extort Mary Alice’s home and 180 acres of land.

Dream Killers: Abuse of Regulatory Eminent Domain is the fast-paced wrenching story of a baseless but vicious attack by an entire community on a grieving and seriously ill widow. It is shocking how only a few people seduced the entire community into thinking that Mary Alice actually deserved to have her home and land taken from her. The town used regulatory takings, which is eminent domain by a thousand paper cuts without any compensation. The victim’s dreams die from the slow hemorrhaging of their liberty and finances. If a private company attempted to do the same thing it would be charged with grand larceny. Even the most jaded American will find it hard to believe that any community could treat Mary Alice so inhumanly – especially in America. Even more shocking is the fact that Mary Alice’s story is also the tragic odyssey of tens of thousands of other Americans. The smart growth craze spreading like wildfire across America is a poison that divides communities; pits neighbor against neighbor; and greatly increases traffic congestion and air pollution. It drives up taxes and the cost of homes beyond what most lower and middle-income families can afford. Simply stated, it kills the American Dream of home ownership and a good life. Smart growth is eminent domain gone amok. It murders the dreams and hopes of those who, like Mary Alice Davis, fall victim to its diabolical web of deceit and corruption.
